Overview
Once enabled, the DocSend Salesforce integration can be leveraged to link DocSend and Salesforce accounts. After linking a DocSend account to Salesforce, any related visits, link creations, and Space creations will be synced to the account in Salesforce.
There are a few ways to link a DocSend account to Salesforce. Keep reading to understand where you can link accounts to Salesforce!
Skipping Ahead
- Linking a Document or Space Link to a Salesforce Account
- Linking a Salesforce Account From the Account Page
- Updating or Unlinking a Salesforce Account
- Things to Consider
Linking a Document or Space Link to a Salesforce Account
When you create a new link, you’ll be prompted to select an account. You can select either a DocSend account or a Salesforce account. To do this, simply toggle between “DocSend Accounts” and “Salesforce Accounts” when entering an account name in the link’s settings.
- Selecting a Salesforce account will automatically create a DocSend account with the same name.
- Selecting a Salesforce account whose exact name exists as a DocSend account will link the two.
- Selecting a Salesforce account whose name matches a DocSend account that’s already linked to a different Salesforce account, DocSend will create a new account with a “(1)” appended to it.
If link creation sync or Space creation sync is enabled, this activity will sync to Salesforce on the selected account.
Linking a Salesforce Account From the Account Page
From the Accounts page, you can open any existing account and link it to a Salesforce account. Any new visit activity associated with the account will be synced to Salesforce.
To link an account to Salesforce:
- Open the Account page in DocSend.
- Click Link to a Salesforce account.
- Enter the account name to search for it.
- Select the correct account and click Link to selected account.
You can also click the “more options” menu (three dots) and click Link to Salesforce instead.
Updating or Unlinking a Salesforce Account
To update a linked Salesforce account:
- Click the “more options” menu (three dots).
- Click Edit Salesforce link.
- Search for the new account name.
- Click Link to selected account.
To unlink a Salesforce account:
- Click the “more options” menu (three dots).
- Click Unlink from Salesforce.
Important Note: Updating a Salesforce account will only affect new visits and link/Space creations. Any historically synced data will remain on the previously linked account.
Things to Consider
- Multiple DocSend accounts cannot be synced to the same Salesforce account.
- Upon linking, the DocSend account name will be updated to match Salesforce. If another account with that name already exists, a “(1)” will be appended to the account name.
- If an account name is changed in Salesforce, the account will remain linked to DocSend, but the name in DocSend will not be automatically updated.
- If an account is deleted from Salesforce, it’ll be unlinked from the related DocSend account upon the next attempted sync.
