Overview
Create and send screen recordings that bring your documents to life with the Dropbox Capture integration, all from your DocSend account. Below, we provide the step-by-step process for creating a Dropbox Capture video to send to your prospects from your DocSend account.

Requirements
- Connect your Dropbox account. Learn more about how to connect your Dropbox account.
- Ensure your browser and device allow screen recording and audio. Authorize camera and microphone access from your browser settings.
Record a Video with Capture
Record any of your existing files using the Dropbox Capture integration.
- Locate your desired file.
- Click the Capture icon to the left of the preview icon to start the recording process.
- Allow the Dropbox Capture integration
- Allow camera and audio access.
- Choose which part of the screen you’d like to record (screen, window, or tab)
- On the side panel (left), configure your recording settings.
- Once configured, click the record icon to start recording.
- When you’re done recording, click the stop icon.
- From the prompt, select whether you want to:
- Redo the recording: This will allow you to record once more, this does not save the previous recording.
- Discard the recording: This will stop the recording and the recording will not be saved
- Insert recording: This option will upload the recording to both Dropbox and DocSend.
Note: A copy of your recording will be uploaded to DocSend in the same folder where the recording was initiated from. In Dropbox, your recording will be saved in the Capture folder.
Recording Settings
On the side panel (left), you can configure your recording settings BEFORE you start recording.
- Click the Microphone icon to select your audio input or disable voiceover.
- Click the Camera icon to select your camera or disable your camera.
- Click the Cancel icon to stop and cancel the recording.
You can select the following recording settings DURING your recording:
- Click the Cancel icon to stop and cancel the recording.
- Click the Stop icon to stop your recording
- Click the Pause icon to pause/resume recording.
Edit your Capture Video
Once you’ve inserted your video, you’ll be taken to the file page where you will have the option to edit your video whenever you like.
- Click Edit Recording in DocSend
- You’ll be taken to Dropbox Capture to edit your video
- Once you’re done, click save changes.
DocSend will automatically update saved edits in 1, 8, and 10 minute intervals. You can also update the file immediately by refreshing the window or refreshing the file.
Share your Capture Video
When you’re ready to share your Capture video, you can create a DocSend link to copy and share. Check out our Create a Link article for more information. Track Analytics
Depending on your plan type, you can see how long visitors spend on each part of your video and even how engaged they are with specific parts of your video! For more information, check out our DocSend Video Player article.
Things to Consider
- Watermarking is not supported at this time.
- The Gmail plug-in and Outlook add-in do not support this functionality at this time.
- Upload up to 2GB files.
- Recording times depend on your Dropbox plan, for more information see How to use Dropbox Capture.
- Recordings are only supported on desktop (no mobile device support)
- The Capture integration only allows for video voice-over and screen recordings. Screenshots, GIFs, image cropping, image blurring, and annotations are not supported at this time.
- DocSend URL uploads are not supported at this time.
- When you cancel the recording, you can start the recording again by clicking the blue Record button at the top right of the document viewer.
- You can only record 1080p and 4K in Dropbox Capture, but not as part of the Capture integration in DocSend.
